Our second week in America has started and we are now fully settled in. Benni and Alex are sleeping well and we have developed a relaxed but set rhythm.
The week was spent furnishing Gonki and getting everything ready for the road trip to start. Two full days at IKEA and Walmart allowed us to turn the camper into a home that we should be rather comfortable in. We are due to leave on Thursday the 29th of March with New York City as our first destination. We will spend four nights close to Boston on campgrounds with full amenities to get the boys settled in before hitting the great apple. Upcoming destinations:
- 29.03 – 31.03 – Boston / Cape Cod KOA
- 31.03 – 02.04 – Aces High RV Park
- 02.04 – 09.04 – Liberty Harbor RV Park
The mission of buying, insuring, registering and equipping Gonki has been successfully completed and we are now making sure to explore and enjoy Boston. First stop: the Boston Children’s Museum. A recommendation from Mieke’s cousin Stine and a true gem that is a must visit for anyone with children between the ages 2-8. Benni had the day of his life even though we only managed to cover about a third of what the museum has to offer. Particularly the three story high jungle gym kept him busy for the better part of the afternoon! The day was rounded off with an excellent lunch at The Barking Crab, where Mieke and myself treated ourselves to lobster rolls accompanied by a cheeky pitcher of Sangria. The place is definitely worth a recommendation with good food, friendly servie and an absolutely amazing atmosphere…
Week two and we have our first visitor from home: GK! Travelling to Boston on company business GK was so kind to make time for us in his busy schedule. We of course used the time to explore the culinary offerings of our local Boston neighborhood indulging in a variety of tapas at Barcelona Wine Bar Brookline.
@GK – it was absolutely great seeing you! Hopefully you can make it out to the west coast on your summer trip to the states.
Side note: spring seems to have arrived and we made sure to maximize our time outside. Enjoying our lunch on the front porch has been absolutely fantastic. Here are some more pictures from this past week…..
